KOTA BATU ARCHEOLOGICAL PARK
The Kota Batu Archeological Park is located at Jalan Sultan Bolkiah, Kampung Kota Batu, about 5km from Bandar Seri Begawan. The site was gazetted under the Antiquities and Treasure Trove Act in 1967, with the revised edition in 1984,1991, 2002 and this site is considered an important archeological site in Brunei.
It is believed that this site was the capital city of Brunei between the 14thcentury to the 17thcentury. Kota Batu also played an important role as a center of government, trade and settlement in Brunei during that time.
This site is also significant for research on flora and fauna. Studies on ethno-archeological have also been conducted on some of the plants on the site, which proved that the people are experts in using plants as materials for architecture, industries, medicine and nutrition.
The Kota Batu Archeological Park also provide walkways about 1,580 meters long, rest huts, bridge that lead to Pulau Terindak. The site also provides basic amenities such as rest area, public toilets and public parking.
