A traditional woven scarf received the UNESCO-AHPADA 2003
Seal of Excellence in October, 2003. The scarf was among 39 products
from 95 craft products entered for the competition. The distinctive
Seal of Excellence serves as a quality control mechanism guaranteeing
excellent quality of hand-made traditional and innovative craft products
evaluated based on five important criteria, including quality, creative
and innovative production, excellence in using raw materials from
sustainable resource which symbolises traditional and culture significant
of respective countries. It is to educate and create
awareness, appreciate the authenticity of ASEAN handicrafts as well
as grade the craft product and build up archive of ASEAN craft information
forming a database for research and development studies and
E-Commerce.
