In the last 40 years, the Brunei
Museums Department has played a vital role in educating, informing inspiring
and entertaining Bruneian and visitors alike. Hence, the time is right for us to
celebrate its developments and achievements by publishing
his commemorative book.. |

The aim of this commemorative
publication is to record the development and achievement of
the Brunei Museums Department and to showcase the valuable
collections that are housed in all the respective museums
for the benefits of the citizens of Brunei Darussalam,
visitors to the country as well as the individual museum.

This publication has the
following objectives : |
|
|
| |
- To increase public's
interest and appreciation for the country arts, cultural
and natural heritage.
- To highlight the Brunei
Museums Department's role as a resource and research
centre for archeology, ethnology, history and natural
history.
- To promote the museums in
Brunei Darussalam as quality and interesting attractions.
- To provide tourist with a
valuable 'souvenir' from the county that would generate
more interest in Brunei Darussalam internationally.

Sinopsis:
Tujuan utama buku Permainan dan
Sukan Tradisi Masyarakat Brunei Darussalam adalah untuk
mendedahkan kepada masyarakat umum tentang pelbagai
permainan tradisi yang pernah dipraktikan oleh masyarakat
Negara Brunei Darussalam di zaman lampau.
Pada masa kini permainan
tradisi ini jarang lagi kita lihat dimainkan oleh
kanak-kanak ataupun orang dewasa; hanya beberapa jenis
permainan tradisi sahaja yang masih dimainkan seperti
permainan pasan, gasing, congkak, kikik dan lain-lain.
Alat-alat permainan moden mewujudkan saingan yang kuat
terhadap permainan tradisi.
Alat permainan moden lebih canggih
dan mudah diperolehi di gedung-gedung perniagaan yang banyak
menarik hati generasi masa kini unutk memilikinya dan
menyebabkan mereka tidak berminat lagi terhadap permainan
tradisi yang pernah dimainkan oleh datuk nenek mereka
terdahulu. |
