Marina Contractor signed a project agreement with the
Department of Museums for a complete reconstruction of
the Brunei Museum's third gallery hall.
The signing ceremony, which took place yesterday
morning, was conducted by manager of Marina Contractor
Marina Bte Sait and curator of Natural History Samhan
Bin Nyawa.
The event was overseen by Hj Matassim Hj Jibah, the
director of Museums.
Witnessing the ceremony was Mohd Tejudin Hj Abd
Latif from Marina Contractor, and on behalf of the
Department of Museums was Pg Hj Md Yamin PSJ Pg Hj Abd
Momin.
The signing enabled the first phase of the
construction project to begin on December 10. It will
take approximately three months to complete. The cost
of the construction project is estimated at B$100,000.
The hall - the most popular among youngsters -
houses most of the natural exhibits including the
nation's famous animals.
The Brunei Museum was officially opened in 1972 by
Queen Elizabeth II and one of the museum's first
natural history collections included the Common Scopes
Owl from 1965
